Can I say that I was disappointed somewhat incredibly in the looks that graced the red carpet last night at the 23rd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards last night. The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles was as star-studded as you would imagine, but I think this may have been a case of the men outdoing the women on the red carpet, with the exception of Ms. Stone, who ruled in this assymetrical dress by Alexander McQueen.
Emma Stone has been all up in the public eye thanks to the smashing success of La La Land, so it’s only fitting she looks all the more a knock out when delivering her acceptance speeches; which there have already been several of, and surely more to come from the looks of things. (You too, Ryan Gosling, you too).
I love the assymetry here because it brings together the two looks seamlessly; the embroidered floral gown and the sheer lingerie inspired. The deconstructed aesthetic is not only edge-worthy, it is actually quite elegant and interesting. The black floral element is feminine with a soft flow, and the lacy bodice element, dipping down onto her hip, is the sultry edge to really elevate this piece in only a way the Alexander McQueen label can do so beautifully, and thoughtfully.
Emma paired the look with an Alexander McQueen clutch, Tiffany & Co jewelry, and a pair of Jimmy Choos. Her fiery locks were given a side part and soft wave, while her smokey eye and pink lip vibed right along with the overall tone of her look for the night.
