Top 5: People’s Choice Awards Fashion 2017

We are two awards shows deep into the 2017 season, and celebrities are already setting the bar high for the red carpet. The 43rd People’s Choice Awards took place just two days ago, January 18, in Los Angeles, and today we are looking at my Top 5 picks for the best dressed at the event.

1. Priyanka Chopra in Sally LaPointe

Here is another beautiful example of pink done the right way, without being obnoxious, on the red carpet. This pale pastel shade looks particularly lovely against Priyanka’s caramel kissed skin, and the the overall construction of the dress in quite unique. Two separate pieces, this look comes together harmoniously with a trailing cropped top subtly ruffling over the delicately fringed skirt. This look is definitely boasting a great textural feel, while maintaining a feminine softness. Priyanka kept it flirty and feminine with soft, side-parted beach waves, glowing skin, and an overall fresh approach to her makeup.

2. Cheryl Burke in Francesco Paolo Salerno

If ever a look was 100% on trend, then this is it. Honestly, Cheryl Burke just looks absolutely amazing, and makes trends such as the mile-high thigh slit and choker necklace all the more desirable. The sheer material of the bodice and the billowy black train of the skirt of the dress, by Francesco Paolo Salerno, come together to create a sultry and feminine red carpet look. Her tousled pulled back hair and smokey eye top off her look, while her deep burgundy lip elevates the drama fantastically.

3. Jamie Chung in Martha Medeiros Label

Queen of street style, Jamie Chung, brought total summer vibes to the red carpet in this yellow, lacy piece by Martha Medeiros Label. The ruffled-edge floral pattern gets a total style elevation with the thigh high slit, and the form-fitted silhouette emphasized Jamie’s petite frame. Bits of sheer throughout the dress add a barely-there feel, again, hitting us with summer feels. Her turquoise clutch brought the perfect color pop of contrast, and her signature balayage locks and sun-kissed makeup brought it all home in a way that only Jamie Chung can.

4. Jennifer Lopez in Reem Acra

Jennifer Lopez definitely knows how to blend dramatic and sexy to achieve an award winning look, and this gown by Reem Acra is by no means an exception. The fitted, long-sleeved silhouette hugs every one of her enviable curves, while the too-gorgeous-to-be-real embellishment of the bodice deserves an award of its own. I mean, really, how insanely elaborate is this detail. Her dark manicure and multitude of ring accessories by H. Stern jewels complement the look, while she finishes it off with a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch, pseudo-signature slicked back hair,  and a regal attitude for days.

5. Blake Lively in Elie Saab

Blake Lively, and Elie Saab for that matter, never fail to disappoint when a red carpet is involved. This sparkling fringed mini-dress is really such a fun take on awards fashion, not to mention it shows off her dynamite legs, making her look as statuesque, and goals af, as usual. The all-over fringe allow for great texture and movement, while touches of sheer show off hints of her rockin’ post-baby body.  Her long blonde tresses are left with a casual no-muss wave, and her pink-nude lip and bronze eye leave her face looking fresh and aglow.

So many great looks from the event, it’s hard to always narrow it down to a handful. Who wore your favorite look of the night, and do you agree or disagree with the winners?
