Yeah, so, I realize it’s been almost 2 weeks since my last post! What the world! Mom life has been in overdrive for me, so props to those who still manage to blog a lot more frequently while managing their fam. Between working on some commissioned art pieces, planning some things for my best friend’s baby shower, baking to raise funds for Mended Little Hearts, and you know, being the badass wife + mama that I am, who has the time 😉 That being said, since we are indeed approaching the month’s end I am sharing a little open-box review/first impressions on the October ipsy glam bag, alter ego.
This one was okay; there were definite highs + lows so I’m comfortable giving it 3 out of 5 stars.
AURORA Gel Effect Nail Polish in Inky Dinky
This was my second time trying AURORA polish, and I still dig it. The formula is supposed to give you the look of a gel manicure, without the use of UV light. I’ll have to say it does a pretty nice job achieving this look at home. While I didn’t get a month’s wear out of it, I did get about a week and a half, which is great considering how much I work with my hands. I also really love the shine the finished application gives. The color, inky dinky, is a beautiful, deep navy shade…love it! You can shop this product online at http://www.auroracosmeticsny.com, and use code IPSYOCT at checkout to receive 20% off your purchase.
I am quite fond of theBalm, and have been for some time now. While this liquid lipstick isn’t my favorite from the brand, it was definitely one of the highlights of this glam bag. The liquid lipstick has a smooth application and is buildable to achieve desired effect. While I appreciate the matte finish and the pink-nude shade, Committed, I did not care for the smell at all. It has a vanilla mint scent that reminds me of a trip to the dentist! So, in summation, yes to the lipstick, no to the product’s smell. Good news is you can get 20% off your purchase at theBalm.com by using code IPSY20.
First of all, I’m automatically throwing up gold stars for any brand that wholeheartedly stands behind a cruelty free commitment. This fragrant free all-over lotion feels great on, with a lightweight formulation and no greasy residue. It contains Shea butter, jojoba oil and kukui nut oil, which promotes soft and moisturized skin. I also love that BWC offers up the suggestion that you could add your favorite essential oil(s) to the lotion to create a completely customizable scent. If you want to try this one for yourself, visit http://www.beautywithoutcruelty.com and use code “ipsybwc” to score 15% off any purchase.
Nourish Organic Pure Hydrating Argan Face Serum
Okay, sorry, this was a definite miss for me. I am not familiar with the Nourish Organic brand, but this Argan face serum was just a no go in my book. Before I delve into why I don’t care for this product, let me present the silver lining. This is a cruelty-free, vegan product and Argan oil is packed with some great benefits for your skin (and hair, etc.). However, this serum was definitely really watery in consistency and very greasy in it’s initial feel and post-application feel. Even if my skin were crazy dry, I just don’t think I could see myself using this one.
pur-lisse BB Tinted Moist Cream SPF 30
Yes to pur-lisse. Yes to BB cream. Yes to SPF. This product was definitely the highlight of my October glam bag. I had reasonably high hopes for this little gem since I’m a pur-lisse fan, and it definitely delivered. It goes on nice + lightweight like you want a tinted moisturizer to do, but provides great coverage like you would expect from a great BB. I was a huge fan of the just-enough dewy finish and how good my skin felt afterwards, thanks to ingredients such as Chamomile and sugar maple. I recommend you head over to http://www.purlisse.com and use coupon code IpsyBB30 to treat yo self to 30% off any purchase.
We are getting into holiday season guys. Lots of firsts coming up for my little dude + our fam! And, of course all the love the season brings, so hope you guys are ready and stay tuned!
