This past Sunday, January 11, the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards aired, hosted by dynamic comedienne duo Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. Star studded and note worthy, as per usual, many tuned in to marvel at the winners, and attendees in general. Now I’m not here to recap the bulk entirety of the show, for me it all boiled down to the red carpet looks that had everyone talking. I, for one, felt that each celebrity showcased their own personal style in their ensemble selections, more so than at other red carpet events. I have, after much mental consideration, narrowed my favorites down to a Top 5, in no particular order:
1. ::Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein::
This glittery CK number caught my eye with all it’s shimmer and flawlessly constructed silhouette. The bodice alone offers a subtle textural element that sets off the strapless look. Paired with sparkling accessories and a side-styled coif, Reese’s stylist, Leslie Fremar, hits another home run. Plus, I hear this gown took over 80 hours to make!
2. :: Katherine Heigl in Zac Posen::
Zac Posen is, by far, one of my all-time favorite designers, and say what you will about Katherine Heigl, but she looks absolutely incredible in this navy blue piece!! The silhouette of this mermaid gown is impeccable, and is further complemented by the additional patterned stitching in the bodice. I particularly love the use of the navy color, I think it lends that extra bit of understated glamor to the look as a whole.
3. ::Lorde in Narciso Rodriguez::
Lorde took the tuxedo trend and completely made it her own, looking amazing, in custom Narciso Rodriguez. The loose fitting, high waisted trouser, paired with the transparent peekaboo black crop top was further amped up by the platinum-diamond Neil Lane statement necklace, which pretty much made the look for me. Her hair was no distraction thanks to her bun, and her dark lip kept true to her personal style. I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews about this look, but on Lorde I think it does work, so I had to throw it a shout out here.
4. ::Emily Blunt in Michael Kors::
So, this MK piece worn by Emily is perhaps something we’ve all seen before on the red carpet, but she looked so goddess-like in the white fabric I fell in love with the silhouette all over again. Set off by the turquoise in her jewelry and her braided crown upstyle, Emily looked flawlessly ethereal.
5. ::Julia Goldani Telles in Carmen Marc Valvo::
How gorgeous is this royal blue Carmen Marc Valvo gown?! Not just the color, I love everything about it from the plunging neckline to the fitted waist and flare of the bottom. It just looks so dreamy and glamorous set against the red carpet.
There were so many amazing looks on the red carpet, but we cannot overlook the after party looks either (I’ll try and post my favorites from that set too!). Who wore your favorite look of the night??
