ipsy: Beauty Schooled

I thought when we were all kissed by Autumn weather last week it was a sign of cooler days knocking on our doors. Yet, as I sit here in the 90-something degree heat I’m beginning to think that’s not necessarily the case. Still, the official first day of Fall is this month, because folks, yes, it is indeed September!! That being said, look for my next few posts to wrap up summer and some events that have been headlining lately. First up, the August ipsy glam bag, titled “Beauty Schooled”.

This particular bag was more pencil bag shaped, fitting since it falls right in line with all the back to school rallying we’ve all experienced to some degree. Let me say though, the first little gem I gathered from the orange polka dot bag was gold.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
I love Urban Decay. Plain and simple. The perversion mascara is one of my all time favorite products. It has a rich black pigment, it’s long lasting, and it makes your eyelashes look oh so glorious. Look at the wand tip: all the spacings between the bristles are perfect for grabbing each lash and coating with luxe product. Visit Urban Decay online or stop into Ulta or Sephora to get your hands on this stuff.

Cali Cosmetics Evulcano Body Lotion with Sicilian Lemons and Volcanic Minerals
This was both a new brand and product for me. It’s an emulsifying body cream that works to hydrate your skin. The formula contains Italian olive oil, anti oxidizing volcanic minerals and has a light lemony scent. Visit the brand online at http://www.calicosmetics.com and use code: IPSY25 at checkout for 25% off your purchase.

Coastal Scents Forever Blush Sample Duo
At this point we’ve all heard of Coastal Scents in some way, shape or form. And let me say, they are not to be underestimated because of their affordability. I have a few items of this caliber in my kit and find that they hold their own against other prestige level brands. Coastal Scents offers 18 different shades within the Forever Blush collection (I received “Fresh” and “Elegant”, pictured below). The colors I received are perfect for this transition from Summer into Fall; they give perfect little pops of color to complete any look. Check out all their products at http://www.coastalscents.com.

Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner
You can never have too many lip balms, right?! Sounds like solid logic to me. This one from Jersey Shore Sun, I’ll have to admit I misjudged. I thought it was going to be some waxy product with a kitschy name and I was wrong. It actually had a really silly application and made my lips feeling really soft and smooth. The name “Mongongo” comes from the ingredient Mongongo oil, which was a new one for me. It is a fruit derived oil that hydrates and restructures, offering unique UV protection. The oil itself contains magnesium, calcium, zinc, and antioxidants. Another fun fact is that these products are 100% natural and USDA certified organic. Head to http://www.jerseyshoresun.com and use code: IPSY50 at checkout to receive 50% off any of their lip conditioners.

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo
I’m a little ambivalent on this one, not because of the brand but just because I’m not huge on body shimmers and what not for daily use. You can wear it alone, which is not up my alley, or you can mix a little in with your foundation for added glow, which is a more likely scenario in my book. I will say that it does not leave an overwhelming cast of shimmer/incandescence, so it would be quite nice for highlighting the cheekbone, let’s say. I think gets threw me off was thinking of the product for all over body use. I will also throw out there that this shade is meant to be universally flattering on all skin tones, but from reading other reviews I get the impression that fairer skin tones may not reap as many benefits. To each his own though.

That wraps that up; a new bag will be here before you know it. Here’s hoping to cooler weather…I need a cold drink.
