Top 10: Recovery Tracks

Top 10: Recovery Tracks

Yesterday was day 2 of 2 of my most recent melanoma surgery. I am quite happy to report that all margins returned clear, which sums up to mean that I am yet again CANCER FREE. It is such a relief. Thankfully this time around it was caught in a very early stage so it was not as aggressive as last time. But, like with any surgery there is the corresponding recovery time. I have 3 layers of stitches, 2 of which are dissolvable, but I’ll have the top layer removed next Thursday. I am taking until Monday to rest up beige returning to work. So while Percocet and this iced Starbucks Americano I am currently sipping on thanks to a friend, are providing a sustainable level of comfort, I also seek comfort in music.

Music, good music mind you (granted we all have varying definitions of that), has a healing effect, whether through distraction, catharsis, or catalyst for other emotional release or even breakdown. I have finely tuned my Pandora playlists, iTunes playlists and what have you and although my top 10 changes frequently I thought I would share present Top 10 jams that seem to be more frequent in play while I’m in this recovery mode. So, in no particular order:

1. “HEARTBEATS”–ROYAL TEETH

2. “BLUE JEANS”–LANA DEL RAY

3. “KILL IT”–THE CINEMA

4. “SEX”–THE 1975

5. “COMING OF AGE”–FOSTER THE PEOPLE

6. “OH K, OKAY”–SAID THE WHALE

7. “400 LUX”–LORDE

8. “THE BEST OF YOU AND ME”–NUMBER ONE GUN

9. “XO” (cover)– JOHN MAYER

10. “BRIDGES”–BROODS

Yeah, I probably could have listed songs all day, but here’s 10 good ones you should work into your rotation. Anything you think I should add to mine?!
