Shailene Woodley: A Style Evolution.

Someone I’ve recently been more and more impressed by, both on the red carpet and out and about, is Shailene Woodley. The Divergent star, whom you perhaps first remember from her breakout role as Amy on “Secret Life of the American Teenager, has truly evolved her style from something more youthful to something so perfectly, and effortlessly chic and glam. I see so many more editorial spreads and leading roles in her future, and look forward to see what trends she starts, well, trending.

One of the first times I first took notice of Shailene’s evolving style was when she appeared at the 2013 MTV VMA’s (which I believe is when she also debuted her new short hairstyle). Her outfit came from designer Pucci, which she paired with a Chad Ypon bracelet and black Casadei heels. I love the black crop top on her; her slicked back hair makes it look all the more chic. And coming right off the Great Gastby bandwagon, the fringe on her high waisted skirt is playful, yet classy, pairing so well with the crop top. The sparkle detailing intermixed with the shades of blue is stunning, and the triangular cut elongates her legs, and makes the skirt that much more of an eye catcher.

Another ensemble Shailene wore earlier this month, at Kate Winslet’s Hollywood Walk of Fame celebration, was a stunning number by Preen. The shimmering blue and silver floral jacquard dress was given its pop of color with a chartreuse belt and paired with Narciso Rodriguez sandals. Normally I don’t like materials such as this jacquard but it had such a delicate balance to it that I could not help but to love. Her soft, deep side parted hair was a breath of fresh air amongst the typical long locks of the rich and famous, and her natural toned makeup was just enough.

Shailene rocking Elie Saab (which she’s done on multiple occasions) is by far one of my favorites yet. At a screening of “Divergent”, hosted by Marie Claire on March 20, she looked super chic, and super sexy dare I say, in this black jumpsuit with contoured waist and sheer patterned bodice. Can I have this in my closet now?!! Her gold metallic heels by Rupert Sanderson add the perfect amount of edge and glamour and emphasize her long legs, which are often highlighted by her fashion choices. To make the look that much more amazing, Shailene wore her hair in her sort of signature side part, nice and sleek. The pop of red on her lips was a brilliant choice and really complemented the overall appeal of this look.

Speaking of Elie Saab, again Shai sparkled and shined in a beautiful Elie Saab Couture gown at the March 18 premiere of “Divergent” at the Regency Bruin Theatre in Westwood, California. The dramatically draped one shoulder bronze gown featured beaded detailing and a thigh high split. Her dramatically lined gold toned eye makeup and glowy complexion was further emphasized by a neutral toned lip; the perfect makeup for her glam look. Her Stuart Weitzman heels had Shai standing tall on the red carpet, capturing the attention of every camera and every eye.

Even as I’ve taken a day or two to “gather my thoughts” about which of Shailene’s looks to feature, she has already been seen and photographed in more fabulous pieces, and good for her! I’m really glad she is embracing her life and career beyond her former ABC Family role, because it is all definitely embracing her. I am including one final image from the March 2014 InStyle spread, taken in Positano, Italy. I mean, we cannot talk about “Divergent” in any capacity and not at least mention co-star Theo James. This InStyle issue is no longer on stands, but visit them online to check out all the images from the spread. “Divergent”, however, is in theaters, so I do encourage you to go and check that out.
